Reflective Essays (200 pts)

FIRST ESSAY DUE: Monday, March 6


In this essay, you identify and  describe key ideas and information that you are learning in this class and make connections between the ideas that are most important or relevant to you. Then you reflect on your participation in this course: What are you noticing about yourself as a learner and as a digital author?

The reflective multimedia essay is designed to give you the opportunity (1) to identify the ideas from the course readings and videos that are most relevant, important and meaningful to you, (2) to build bridges between these ideas and your personal and professional identity, and (3) to reflect on your experience as a learner in this fully-online graduate course.

Since you are sharing this reflective essay as a blog post, you are expected to use a combination of language , images, sound or multimedia as part of your creative expression. You must tweet a link to your multimedia essay using the #EDC534 hashtag. Expectation: 4-5 pages, posted to your blog (1200-1500 words).

Criteria for Evaluation

1. I have summarized, analyzed and synthesized key information and ideas from the readings and videos, using the “they say, I say” approach which includes summarizing, paraphrasing and direct quotation to demonstrate my understanding and interpretation.

2.I present some connections between ideas that are are most personally and professionally meaningful to me.I have reflected authentically on my learning in this class, considering the strengths and limitations of my choices and strategies for online learning.

3. My essay is well-written and informative, thoughtful and reflective. The grammar and spelling are perfect and I have incorporated some form of multimedia expression in order to deepen and extend my ideas.
